The key to the 7 Dimensions of Singing is breaking down the mechanical complexities of the voice into a way that’s easy to understand. The webgraph allows you to see your current vocal skills relative to each dimension. More importantly, it helps you identify which type of exercises will be needed to create a more balanced voice to maximize YOUR abilities as a singer. After learning how the webgraph works in the video below, scroll down to start working on the dimension of your voice that needs the most attention today!

Your Vocal Profile Results
According to your initial Vocal Profile assessment, the dimension of tone is the best place for you to start your journey. Tone has to do with the quality of sound created when singing. It’s important to address because it will help you project your voice and allow you to express yourself emotionally. Let’s try a strange and fun sounding exercise from the Vocal Gym course, which requires us to release unwanted tension in the vocal tract so that you can create new sounds and textures. Please note that the sound we’re attempting during the exercise is NOT the goal sound for singing, but rather a “reset” of our resonator spaces to use more freely when singing! Follow along with the video and then use the piano track (MP3) to practice on your own.

Exercise Components
Formant: Uh | Feature: M | Pattern: I1358531 | Volume: Medium | Tempo: Mid | Variable: Larynx Down

Need to make it easier?
Simplify the pattern. Reducing the span of pitches within the exercise won’t target range as much, but the focus remains on the development of tone. (MP3 Below)
Want to make it more challenging?
Try a louder volume! The additional air pressure needed to increase the volume makes it far more challenging to keep the pharyngeal muscles relaxed, while cultivating more overtones within the instrument’s resonator.
