This is not your typical warm-up.
This isn’t about getting to your highest note as fast as you can. This is about mindful practice — helping you actually develop your skills while you warm up. The right exercise depends on what your voice needs today. Take the free Vocal Profile and we’ll match you to the exact drill from Richard’s library that targets your weakest dimensions.
How a Throga warm-up actually works.
Take the free Vocal Profile.
Seven minutes, no card required. The Profile measures your voice across all 7 Dimensions of Singing — Flexibility, Breathing, Intonation, Range, Tone, Articulation, Strength — and surfaces which two or three you need to spend time with.
Get matched to an exercise designed for your voice.
Richard has built a video for every combination of weak dimensions — 63 of them in total. Your Vocal Profile points to the one drill that targets exactly what your voice needs today. Not a generic five-minute routine. One focused exercise.
Practice mindfully — sixty seconds, daily.
Pay attention to what your body is telling you. If there’s anything out of balance, make a change. Don’t just push yourself through it. You’re teaching the mind a new path to achieve the pitch with less effort.
The goal here is efficiency.
A typical warm-up just gets you loud and high. A mindful warm-up trains the muscles you actually under-use so that singing the song later costs less effort. We’re not pushing you through — we’re finding the new path that lets your folds vibrate where you want them to.
We’re actively seeking the parts of your voice that are imbalanced.
Most singers just sing songs and level off. Most singers who exercise just repeat the same routine and get good at performing the routine. Throga’s practice model is different: we use your Vocal Profile to find the weak spots, then train them specifically. That’s why a generic warm-up doesn’t move the needle — and a matched one does.
Almost always, the answer is taking something away. Not adding.
If something feels off in an exercise, don’t fix it with stress. Don’t fix it by getting louder. Don’t fix it by changing the vowel shape. Try to take something away — relax the chin, soften the volume, take in less air. That’s how you build efficiency for a consistent instrument skillfully.
“You already know how to cheat. You already know how to force the pitch. The purpose of a mindful warm-up is not to force the pitch. We want to find new ways to coordinate the muscles and to loosen the folds so they can vibrate where we want.” — Richard Fink IV, from the 27-minute lesson below

The complete 27-minute lesson.
For when you want the structured progression rather than a single drill. Richard walks through five exercises moving from Flexibility focus to Range focus — the same arc he teaches in the Vocal Gym course. Take the Vocal Profile first if you want to know which sections to pay closest attention to.
The library only works after you know your Profile.
Free diagnostic, no payment, no commitment — the same Vocal Profile used by 10,000+ singers in 126 countries to find what to practice next.
