The Power of Saying YES as a Singer
Five Reasons to Accept More Singing Opportunities

Being willing to take on more singing opportunities will help you develop exponentially. Here are some clear cut reasons to say YES and put the “get out there and do it” approach into action.
The HOW will come, whether it’s online now, and in-person opportunities as things open up (article written in April 2020 during global Coronavirus pandemic lockdown). What matters most is to keep a “no matter what” attitude to say YES to your passion for singing.
1. You feel inspired (and a little scared).
Pay attention to your intuition. Anything that inspires you is most likely your Inner Wisdom guiding you to say YES, especially when you feel nervous about it.
2. Someone believes in you.
If you’re offered a performing opportunity, it means that someone believes you’re up for the task. Take the opportunity as a compliment and harness the confidence other people have in you.
3. You will grow exponentially from each experience.
Performing often is much more valuable than having a perfect performance. Of course you want to prepare and do your best. By saying YES more often, you’re strengthening your ability to take action in uncertainty. This practice boosts your confidence. Through each experience, you discover more of your strengths, capabilities, and preferences. Also, saying YES to one opportunity can lead to more open doors.
4. “Failure” is a great teacher.
We often reject opportunities because of the fear of failure. However, what we perceive as “failure” is actually a learning opportunity. (Remember #3).
5. Life will feel more purposeful and fulfilling.
Be willing to say YES to opportunities you want to experience. If you can make it work time wise, take the singing ‘gig’….whatever that ‘gig is. Make adjustments in your schedule if necessary. Remember, there is no perfect timing. It’s all a matter of what’s important to you.
