The key to the 7 Dimensions of Singing is breaking down the mechanical complexities of the voice into a way that’s easy to understand. The webgraph allows you to see your current vocal skills relative to each dimension. More importantly, it helps you identify which type of exercises will be needed to create a more balanced voice to maximize YOUR abilities as a singer. After learning how the webgraph works in the video below, scroll down to start working on the dimension of your voice that needs the most attention today!

Your Vocal Profile Results
According to your initial Vocal Profile assessment, the dimension of breathing is the best place for you to start your journey. We already know how to breathe of course! However, the dimension of breathing refers to the management of air through the coordination of muscles around the lungs. It’s important to develop so that we can effortlessly sing long phrases with dynamic choices. In the following exercise, we can monitor how efficient our air flow is by maintaining consistent “H” sounds throughout the exercise. Vocalize along with me in the video below and then use the piano track (MP3) to practice on your own.

Exercise Components
Formant: Ee | Feature: H | Pattern: S1-1111-1111-1111 | Volume: Quiet | Tempo: Fast | Variable: Tongue Forward

Need to make it easier?
Change the H feature to an S. Using the tip of the tongue to help regulate the airflow will demonstrate how little pressure is needed to do the exercise when re-introducing the H.
Want to make it more challenging?
Change the E formant to an A (creating a “HA” sound). A fully open formant removes back pressure above the folds, making it more challenging to manage breathing. The open, resonant space will also target the dimensions of strength, range and tone.
